Grid Talk 2: Strengthening National Energy Defense through Smart Grid Island Interconnection
Jakarta, October 21, 2025 – Continuing the success of the first session, the Indonesian Smart
Network Association (PJCI) is once again presenting Grid Talk Series 2 with the theme“National Defense of Energy for Smart Grid Island Interconnection.”
The event, held at the Auditorium on the 3rd floor of the PT PLN (Persero) HQ Office, became a strategic forum for stakeholders in the energy sector to discuss national energy defense and independence strategies through the integration of smart inter-island electricity systems.

Energy Independence and Security
This session highlights the importance of energy resilience and security in supporting system interconnection smart grid between islands in Indonesia. Abdul Malik Sadat (Deputy for Infrastructure, BAPPENAS) acted as Keynote Speaker by emphasizing the strategic role of infrastructure planning in strengthening the national energy system. He stated that the synergy between infrastructure development, energy policies, and the adoption of smart technologies is the main foundation for realizing an efficient, resilient, and sustainable energy system.

Panel Discussion: Cross-Sector Synergy
The panel discussion featured speakers from across sectors who discussed the synergy between technology, infrastructure, and cybersecurity to achieve national energy security in the future. The speakers present included:
- Norman Ginting – Director of Projects and Operations, Pertamina NRE
- Cuk Supriyadi – Head of the Research Organization for Energy and Materials, BRIN
- Slamet Aji Pamungkas – Deputy for Cyber and Crypto Security in the Economic Sector, BSSN
- Syarbeni – Cyber Security and Privacy Officer, Huawei Tech Investment
- Denny Setiawan – Director of Digital Infrastructure Policy and Strategy, Ministry of Communication and Digital of the Republic of Indonesia
The speakers emphasized that strengthening digital infrastructure and protecting the electricity system from cyber threats are strategic steps in supporting national energy security.
Collaboration between government, industry and research institutions is considered very important to ensure implementation.Smart Grid Island Interconnectionrunning safely, efficiently and sustainably.

Innovation and Energy Resilience
The speakers agreed that technological innovation is the main key to strengthening national energy security.
The use of smart grids, AI-based monitoring systems, and energy data security are considered capable of increasing efficiency while maintaining the stability of the inter-island electricity system.
In addition, sustainable policy support and investment are also needed so that Indonesia can compete globally in developing a safe and independent smart energy ecosystem.

Closing and Appreciation
The session closed with the handover of mementos and a group photo of all the speakers and moderators as a form of appreciation for their contributions in enriching the discussion.
Through Grid Talk 2, PJCI reaffirmed its commitment as a driver of strategic collaboration between government, industry, and academia in building national energy resilience based on smart grids.
